🚀 Innovation, Digital & Futuristic Technology
Monash University engineers have published findings on a faster method to dry road-base materials, with potential to reduce weather-related construction delays. The team, led by professor Jayantha Kodikara from the Monash Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, tested a hybrid drying approach combining microwave energy with hot airflow to dry compacted unbound granular materials.
Researchers enhance concrete durability by integrating nano-silica and sisal fibers, improving strength and crack resistance for sustainable construction.
The global Green Technology in Construction market is growing rapidly, driven by sustainable building materials, energy-efficient systems, water-saving solutions, and digital innovations. Key players include Saint-Gobain S.A., VINCI Construction, Skanska, Lendlease, and Turner Construction, with North America dominating and Asia-Pacific fastest-growing regions.
San Francisco-based Autodesk has invested $200 million in artificial intelligence startup World Labs, marking the largest startup investment in the company’s history and underscoring its growing commitment to physical-world AI.
🌱 Sustainability & Environment
For Australia’s built environment, climate resilience is now a necessity, not an option. Intensifying floods, longer heat waves and more destructive storms are colliding with an ageing building stock not designed for current climatic extremes.#
Ventia has used an asphalt blend with 15% Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement for the first time on Victorian roads under Melbourne’s Western Roads Upgrade. Delivered for the Netflow consortium, the EME2 mix improves durability for heavy traffic while reducing landfill waste and reliance on new materials.

📖 Miscellaneous
Solarpunk promises regenerative, multispecies urban futures – but as its eco-futurist aesthetic travels from Singapore’s curated tourist icons to Brisbane’s 2032 Olympic transformation, sustainability risks sliding from systemic change into spectacle, and from ambition into greenwashing.
